RCB marketing head arrested:
In the 2025 Indian Premier League, RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) claimed their first-ever title by defeating PBKS (Punjab Kings) by six runs. On June 3, RCB celebrated their championship, and a victory parade was held in Bengaluru on June 4. Tragically, 11 fans lost their lives, and numerous others were injured. Nikhil Sosale, RCB's marketing head, was arrested on Friday in relation to this incident.
However, Sosale has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court, labeling his arrest as arbitrary and unwarranted. He argues that it violates his fundamental rights and is a result of political pressure. Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has completely distanced itself from these proceedings.
Arrest made on verbal orders of CM, claims petition
In Sosale’s petition, it is alleged that his arrest was instigated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The petition highlights that the timing and manner of the arrest suggest it was done on the CM's verbal orders, without any investigative protocol, marking it malicious and an attempt to unfairly hold RCB and its officials responsible for the accidents.
KSCA distances itself, holds government and organizers accountable
Conversely, KSCA completely detached itself from the program, stating in a release that the decision to honor the victorious RCB team was taken by the state government and hosted at Vidhana Soudha.
According to KSCA, they neither planned, organized, nor held any administrative responsibility for the event. The association has held the government, RCB franchise, and event organizers responsible for the mismanagement.
RCB commits to legal process, stampede incident sees FIR lodged
IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) now face controversy. Following the tragic stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives, an FIR has been filed against RCB, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment Networks by the police at Cubbon Park Station. A franchise insider commented—while they cannot discuss legal matters currently, they assure full cooperation with governmental and judicial procedures.
