The bus accident that took place on Monday night in Mumbai's Kurla area shocked everyone. Seven lives were lost, and 42 people were injured. On Tuesday, the police told the court that it's possible the driver used the bus like a weapon, and this angle needs thorough investigation.
According to PTI, police suspect that Sanjay More used the bus intentionally as a weapon in this deadly accident. The court has placed the 54-year-old driver in police custody until December 21 to facilitate the investigation.
The incident occurred around 9.30 PM on Monday in Mumbai's densely populated Kurla area. The bus, operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), collided with several vehicles and pedestrians.

Soon after the incident, bus driver Sanjay More was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested. Charges under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 110 (attempt of culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, have been filed against him.
During the court hearing, the police argued that the alleged crime is of a grave nature, necessitating an in-depth investigation into Sanjay More's intentions. The police emphasized the need to ascertain whether the bus was driven recklessly with an intent to endanger lives.
The police also stated they would investigate if More had received proper training, whether he was under the influence of substances at the time, and if any conspiracy existed behind the incident. The police noted that the transport department had not yet conducted a technical examination of the bus involved in the accident. They underscored the importance of proving whether Sanjay More utilized the bus as a weapon in the congested urban area.

However, the defense lawyer for Sanjay More, Samadhan Sulen, opposed the police claims, arguing the accident could have been due to technical faults like mechanical failure or a short circuit. He contended it was the administration's responsibility to ensure that vehicles were roadworthy before being handed to drivers.
The defense attorney further claimed in court that Sanjay More received adequate training and maintained a clean record, consistently driving the bus without any previous accidents.
