Amidst protests raised against Prashant Kishor during the BPSC movement, he has finally provided an explanation. Tejashwi Yadav accused Kishor of fleeing during the protest. Responding to this, Prashant Kishor stated, "If I had run away, Tejashwi Yadav should have gone to the hospital." He further added, "I met and spoke with the protesters last night. Throughout the events, I was fully involved, yet I made no effort to escape despite the accusations."
Prashant Kishor on the baton charge
Prashant Kishor has shared insights on forming a 5-member delegation to achieve consensus for talks with the Chief Secretary. He urged students, "Those who wish to go home, please do so. I left, only to return to sit again at Gandhi Maidan. A thousand or two students disregarded my appeal, insisting they would not return today. Forty-five minutes after I left the grounds did the baton charge occur—not while I was there. Those responsible for the baton charge were wrong."
If demands aren't met, Prashant Kishor will protest from January 2
Prashant Kishor further commented, "We will file an FIR against the Patna Police and approach the court, alongside registering a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. We've also decided that a delegation will meet with the Chief Secretary today. We hope the government will heed the candidates' concerns. If this matter isn't resolved, I will personally begin protesting from January 2."
Why did students become upset with Prashant Kishor?
On Sunday, thousands of candidates gathered with Prashant Kishor at Gandhi Maidan in Patna to demand the cancellation of the BPSC exam. Protesters chanted slogans demanding the exam's cancellation. By 4 PM, students, led by Prashant Kishor, aimed to march towards the Chief Minister's residence but Kishor left the protest site shortly after, leaving students waiting for hours intending to march towards the CM's home.
Meanwhile, the police used water cannons and baton charges on the protesting students, igniting anger among them. The demonstrators started shouting 'Thief-Thief' slogans against Prashant Kishor, accusing him of abandoning them for political gain and not adequately addressing their issues.
'Go Back' shouts for Prashant Kishor
Following this, the protesting students expelled Jan Swaraj Party leader Prashant Kishor from the protest site in Gardanibagh. Kishor had arrived at midnight and was met with 'Go Back' chants and quarreling with some student leaders. During this, Prashant Kishor accused students of taking blankets while trying to act as leaders, which further angered the students. Kishor justified himself by stating that forty-five minutes after his departure from Gandhi Maidan, the baton charge happened, emphasizing he wasn't present when it occurred, and labeling those actions as wrong.
