Following the violent protests in support of monarchy in Nepal on Friday, the government has been taking decisive actions. The Oli administration has made a significant move by revamping the entire security detail for former King Gyanendra Shah. Every security personnel previously designated for his protection has been reassigned, and the count of his guards has been reduced from 25 to 16. Furthermore, he is expected to compensate for the damages caused by the unrest.

Upon reaching the ground zero of post-violence conditions, several scenes unfolded before us. We stood before the building that first came under attack by protestors. It was in front of this very building, across the Tri-kune grounds, where a massive pro-monarchy gathering intensified, targeting the building, tragically resulting in a journalist cameraman's death.

It is notable that Nepal abolished the monarchy in 2008 through parliamentary action, transitioning to a secular, federal, democratic republic. However, recently there has been a rising demand for the monarchy's restoration, particularly following former King Gyanendra's public appeal for support during the Democracy Day celebrations on February 19. Violent confrontations erupted on Friday in Kathmandu between monarchy advocates seeking the restoration of the monarchy and Hindu nation and security forces.
