In a joint operation by the Jharkhand Police and STF, the notorious criminal Anuj Kanojia, with a bounty of 250,000, was killed in an encounter. This operation, conducted in Jamshedpur, marked a significant success for the police. Anuj Kanojia was an active sharpshooter in the Mukhtar Ansari gang, facing 24 serious criminal charges in Mau, Ghazipur, and Azamgarh districts. He had been under police surveillance for a long time, suspected of involvement in organized criminal activities.

This gang has been actively involved in extortion, contract killings, and other serious crimes. During the encounter, police recovered two weapons from him, including a 9MM Browning service pistol, commonly used by the police and military, and a .32 bore pistol. The operation was spearheaded by STF's Deputy SP DK Shahi, who was injured during the encounter.
The significant action by STF and Jharkhand Police has delivered a severe blow to the Mukhtar Ansari gang. Police are now focused on apprehending other criminals associated with this case to completely curb the gang’s remaining criminal activities.
