Eight railway stations in Uttar Pradesh have been renamed, reflecting the region's religious identity and honoring great personalities. This includes stations such as Jayas, Akbarganj, Fursatganj, Warisganj Halt, Nihalgarh, Bani, Misrauli, and Kasimpur Halt.

Jayas Station has been renamed Guru Gorakhnath Dham. Akbarganj Station is now Maa Ahorva Bhavani Dham. Fursatganj Railway Station has been renamed Tapeshwar Dham, and Warisganj Halt Station has been renamed Amar Shaheed Bhale Sultan.

Nihalgarh Station is now Maharaja Bijli Pasi Station, Bani Railway Station is Swami Paramhans Station, Misrauli Station is renamed Maa Kalikan Dham, and Kasimpur Halt Station is Jayas City.
Names were changed earlier as well
Earlier in 2023, the names of several railway stations in Uttar Pradesh were changed. Northern Railway’s Lucknow division saw Pratapgarh, Antu, and Bishnathganj name changes. Pratapgarh was renamed Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction, Antu was renamed Maa Chandrika Devi Dham Antu, and Bishnathganj was named Shanidev Dham Bishnathganj.
In addition, Jhansi Railway Station was renamed Virangana Laxmibai Railway Station, and stations like Faizabad and Allahabad were also renamed. Faizabad Railway Station was renamed Ayodhya Cantt. The government had issued a notification for these name changes.
In 2018, Allahabad was renamed Prayagraj
In 2018, the Yogi government renamed Allahabad to Prayagraj. Along with renaming the city, the names of railway stations were also changed. One of the first renaming actions by CM Yogi Adityanath was changing the name of Mughalsarai Station.
In August 2018, Mughalsarai Station was renamed Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Station, and Mughalsarai Tehsil was renamed Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Tehsil. Kanpur's Panki Station was renamed Panki Dham.
