The issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators has been a topic of continuous discussion. Both sides of the political spectrum are making this a point of contention. In Delhi, actions against illegal Bangladeshi citizens are ongoing. Following the MCD's lead, the Education Department of Delhi has issued a directive regarding 'Bangladeshi illegal immigrants' to government and private schools in the city.
The department's order insists on strict verification of documents to prevent the admission of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. There is a call for rigorous checks to identify and stop unauthorized admissions involving Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Notify Police in Case of Doubt
The department mandates that complete adherence to documentation is observed when admitting migrant students. In case of doubt, such instances should be referred to local police stations. This applies to all government, aided, and unaided private schools in Delhi.
Orders Also Issued by MCD
Previously, the MCD issued orders concerning illegal immigrants. It directed the public health department to ensure that birth certificates are not issued for newborns whose parents are illegal Bangladeshis and requested the presentation of an action report by December 31, 2024.
Sanjay Singh Criticizes the Directive
Regarding the MCD's directive, Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh remarked, 'BJP chief JP Nadda mentioned in Parliament that the residents from Eastern India are Rohingyas and infiltrators. Now the MCD has instructed verification processes in MCD schools, anti-encroachment drives, and non-issuance of birth certificates. Under the guise of confronting Bangladeshis, they aim to dishonor the people of Purvanchal, including the poor from UP and Bihar. What is the need for this order?'
