While addressing students at the University of Texas, Rahul Gandhi delved into the meaning of the word 'deity'. He explained that a deity is someone whose inner emotions are as pure and transparent as their external expressions.

Who is a Deity?

Rahul Gandhi said that if someone openly expresses their thoughts to him, that person is a deity. In essence, a deity is someone who is completely open and transparent.

He also spoke about historical heroes, noting how they represent extremes. He gave the example of Buddha, who symbolizes extremity. Likewise, he mentioned Lord Ram and Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing the core idea of destroying one's identity to eliminate ego and listen to others.

Rahul highlighted the interesting aspect of politics, which is how you suppress your own thoughts, fears, greed, or ambitions to focus on the fears and ambitions of others.

He expressed that to him, this is Indian politics, which defines Indian leaders as different from American leaders. He observed that American leaders typically guide their followers directly, whereas Indian leaders challenge themselves. For Rahul, the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', a 4000-kilometer journey, was a challenge and a unique way to connect with people and think differently.

What is Shiva?

Rahul Gandhi discussed the idea of Shiva as the destroyer. He explained that Shiva destroys his own ego, structures, and beliefs. This, he said, is how Indian political thought progresses.
