Indeed, the petition filed in the Lucknow High Court claims that Rahul Gandhi possesses foreign nationality. The court directed the Central Ministry of Home Affairs to procure further information on this matter.

Previously, in July 2024, the same petitioner, S. Vignesh Shishir’s plea, was dismissed with the court suggesting that he could file a complaint under the Citizenship Act to a competent authority. Shishir claimed that despite lodging two complaints, no action was taken and thus, he filed the petition again. The court accepted the plea, requesting clarification from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding Rahul Gandhi's citizenship.

Allegations of Rahul's British Citizenship

From Karnataka, S. Vignesh filed a public interest litigation on September 12, asserting that Amethi MP and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is a citizen of the United Kingdom (UK). Shishir claimed that after conducting thorough research, he gathered confidential information revealing that Gandhi holds British citizenship. He demanded a CBI investigation and annulment of Rahul's Indian citizenship based on his alleged British nationality.
