DUSU Election Result 2024:

The vote counting for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections is happening today. The counting of votes will commence at 8 AM at the North Campus.

There is a fierce competition between the student organizations ABVP and NSUI for the roles of president, vice-president, general secretary, and joint secretary.

Delhi University has required all candidates participating in the student union elections to sign an affidavit. This affidavit prohibits celebratory activities such as beating drums, using loudspeakers, bursting firecrackers, or putting up pamphlets after the results are declared.

The affidavit asserts that candidates cannot conduct roadshows or rallies after their victory. Any violations could result in their election being annulled, or they might be removed from their position. The DUSU elections took place on September 27, but vote counting was stalled due to a court order until now.

It is noteworthy that the student union elections initially occurred on September 27, with results expected the following day. This year, out of 145,000 eligible voters, only 51,379 students cast their votes, marking the lowest turnout in at least a decade. However, the Delhi High Court took a strict stance on the mess created by candidates' posters, hoardings, and banners during the elections.

The court ordered that the DUSU election results would not be announced until the campus was fully cleaned. Following this, candidates undertook a cleanliness drive across the colleges and campus of Delhi University. Despite these efforts, some areas still remain inadequately cleaned.
