For the Indian Army, the DRDO and Mahindra Defense have collaboratively developed a new indigenous armored combat vehicle. This is a Wheeled Armored Platform (WhAP). Previously, the army acquired 18 WhAP vehicles from Tata. This time, it is likely that a larger quantity of these combat vehicles will be procured. Hence, Mahindra's WhAP is currently undergoing trials.

In his X (tweet), Anand Mahindra wrote that he is proud Mahindra Defense collaborates with DRDO to develop world-class products. This is a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) variant of the Wheeled Armored Platform (WhAP). It can participate in various amphibious operations.

Its design is compact and it is equipped with a 600-horsepower diesel engine, capable of operating in extremely high-altitude areas. The vehicle incorporates new safety technologies and can accommodate a total of 11 people with weapons. You can see its underwater driving capability in the video below.

In the second video, you can see its prowess on the road. It excels even at Himalayan altitudes. This 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle has a slightly modified version. I am hopeful it will soon be included in the army.

Key Features ... Equipped with Remote-Controlled Machine Gun

It has an automatic transmission and can reach speeds of up to 95 km/hr on the road. Its range is up to 500 kilometers (in plains). To ensure soldiers' safety from various enemy attacks, it is equipped with ballistic STANAG-2 and blast STANAG-1 protections.

It features a 7.62 mm RCWS or Remote-Controlled Weapon Station, meaning a heavy machine gun that can be operated remotely by a soldier inside the vehicle, without needing to expose himself to enemy fire.

It can protect soldiers from nerve, blister, blood, and choking chemical attacks, as well as biological attacks like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and bio-toxins. In case of radiological and nuclear attacks, it protects soldiers from gamma rays. Its suspension is hydropneumatic, and the CBRN detection kit can identify threats from 2 kilometers away. The vehicle is equipped with an automatic weather station and an advanced land navigation system.
