Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a conversation with Group Captain Shubhashu Shukla, who made history by becoming the first Indian to arrive at the International Space Station. The Prime Minister's Office shared the video of this discussion on their official X handle. PM Modi inquired about the challenges faced in space. To this, Shubhashu replied, 'We are so accustomed to living with Earth's gravity that it presents significant challenges here in space, where gravity doesn't exist.'

Shubhashu explained, 'Everything here is different. I trained for a year, thoroughly aware of all systems, processes, and experiments. But upon arrival, everything changed instantly. Our bodies are so used to gravity that it dictates everything. Here, with microgravity, even the smallest things become difficult. Right now, while talking to you, I have my feet secured to avoid floating away. If I let go of this mic, it will just drift. Drinking water, walking, sleeping — everything is tough. Despite good training, one or two days are needed to adjust.'

PM Modi conveyed to astronaut Shubhashu, 'Today, you are farthest from Indian soil, yet closest to the heart of every Indian. Your journey represents the auspicious start of a new era. Though it's just us conversing, 1.4 billion Indians' sentiments accompany me. India's flag waving in space brings you heartfelt congratulations and best wishes.' Shubhashu expressed, 'Viewing India from space, it appears far more magnificent than a map. You truly feel a sense of unity — no borders, no lines. It feels like the entire Earth is our home, and we all are its citizens.'

PM Modi stated, 'Shubhashu, since the success of Chandrayaan, children's and youths' interest in science and space exploration has sparked. Your historic journey is empowering that resolve. Now, children don't just look at the sky; they dream of reaching it. This aspiration forms the core of our future space missions.' Shubhashu added, 'We orbit Earth 16 times daily, traveling at 28,000 km per hour. This speed reflects our nation's rapid progress, urging us to advance further.'
