During a military operation at Khan Younis’ Nasser Hospital in Gaza, Israel claims to have apprehended hundreds of terrorists disguised as medical staff, seizing control of medical resources. The IDF reportedly discovered specialized medicines intended for hostages held by Hamas, along with a cache of weapons and ammunition.
Additionally, Israeli forces have shut down medical treatments at Nasser Hospital, preventing doctors from treating the patients inside. According to the WHO, last week’s raid by Israeli forces brought the hospital's operations to a standstill. Approximately 200 patients are admitted, with over 20 in critical condition, facing a treatment crisis.
Locals in Gaza accuse the Israeli army of relentlessly targeting refugees in Rafah, declaring no place is safe. Local Ahmad Abu Rezeq states, “Nowhere in Gaza is safe. We took refuge in the area Israel advised, yet they attacked and killed our people. My cousin perished in an Israeli attack. This war against humanity must be stopped immediately.”
Israel released a video claiming the discovery of a vehicle at Nasser Hospital used in a Hamas attack on October 7. The vehicle allegedly contains items linked to the attack. Continuous Israeli strikes in Gaza, including an aerial bombardment in Rafah, have resulted in multiple fatalities. Sunday’s attack claimed six lives, including three children and one woman.
Growing international pressure on Israel, engaged in military operations in Gaza for the past five months, calls for an immediate ceasefire. Following Arab and African nations, now Brazil, Latin America’s largest country, presses Israel for a halt in Gaza. Brazi's President Lula da Silva compares the Israeli operation to the Holocaust, a term associated with the genocide of Jews.
At the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, President Lula stated, “What’s happening in Gaza is not war but a massacre. This is not a conflict between two armies but a fight between a high-tech army and civilians, including women and children. This has happened only once before in history.”
Israel sharply criticizes President Lula’s remarks, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu labeling them as shameful and alarming. Netanyahu asserts that Lula’s words aim to damage the rights of Jews and Israel to defend themselves. Earlier, South Africa accused Israel of the genocide of Palestinians and dragged Israel to international court.
