In a shocking turn of events at Dodamarg, located on the Goa-Maharashtra border, everyone has been taken aback. A surprising twist has emerged in a case of an acid attack. A 17-year-old student named Rishabh was subjected to an assault when accused Nilesh Gajanan Desai launched an attack using a bucket filled with acid. Desai's motive was rooted in revenge, blaming Rishabh for the untimely death of his minor daughter. It was an act of a father wanting retribution. Following this incident, Nilesh's wife lodged a formal complaint with the police.

The incident unfolded on the morning of Monday, June 30. As usual, Rishabh left his house on a scooter with his father, Umesh Shetty. At a bus stop near the Dhargalim highway in Goa, his father dropped him off to catch a college bus. However, as he awaited the bus, a person on a scooter arrived, clad in a black raincoat and gloves. A white bucket containing acid was placed on the scooter. The assailant took the acid from the bucket and splashed it several times on Rishabh.

With over 50% burns, his condition remains critical as he receives treatment at Goa Medical College. Immediately after the incident, witnesses at the bus stop contacted Rishabh's father, Umesh Shetty, who arrived quickly and took his son to the hospital. Police were alerted and initiated prompt action.

A dog squad and forensic team were dispatched to the scene, where they recovered the white acid-filled bucket and a plastic jug. With the help of CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, and the scooter number, the police apprehended the suspect, Nilesh Desai, near the Maharashtra border, in the Sindhu-Dodamarg area. Upon interrogation, Desai confessed to his crime. He claimed that Rishabh was the cause of his daughter's death, and his attack was motivated by the desire for revenge. Two years ago, Nilesh's 17-year-old daughter and Rishabh attended the same school.

The two were friends. After completing their 12th grade, Rishabh went on to college, while the girl continued her studies at her uncle's place. In May 2025, she suddenly showed up at Rishabh's house. Her family persuaded her to return home. That very night, she consumed sleeping pills. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she did not survive. The police registered the case as an 'unnatural death' and the investigation is ongoing. A new development in the case arose when Nilesh Desai's wife filed a formal complaint at the Dodamarg police station.

In her complaint, she alleged that Rishabh had engaged in physical relations with her daughter under the pretense of marriage and threatened her with a video. The complaint also stated that Rishabh's parents, particularly his father Umesh Shetty, who is a police officer, had also threatened their daughter. They demanded that a case be filed under the POCSO Act. While a 17-year-old student fights between life and death, a father is accused of taking the law into his own hands for justice.
