Bangladesh: 'Attacks on Minorities Termed Heinous,' Yunus Says- 'We Fought and Will Stay Together'

Bangladesh's interim government has condemned the brutal attacks on minorities across the country. Yunus questioned whether these people are not citizens of the country, and if they can't save some families. 'They are my brothers, we fought together, and we will stay together.'

On Saturday, Bangladesh's interim government leader Mohammad Yunus denounced the attacks on violence-affected minority communities. He labeled the attacks as heinous and urged all youths to ensure the safety of Hindu, Christian, and Buddhist families.

According to two Hindu organizations in Bangladesh- the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council and the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council, members of minority communities have faced at least 205 incidents of attacks across 53 districts since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5.

The Dhaka Tribune reported that addressing students at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, Yunus said, "Many people are waiting to ruin your efforts. This time, do not fail."
