Bollywood actress Yami Gautam's recent release 'Article 370' has had a staggering start at the box office, amassing over 35 crores in its opening week and now marching towards the 100 crore club. The narrative is intricately based on the landmark decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chief Minister's Appeal to the People
Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has announced a tax waiver for the film, stating that it offers a close look at the historic changes that followed the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir. He passionately urges everyone to witness this portrayal in theaters.
It's noteworthy that Yami Gautam's riveting performance, despite being pregnant, involved action sequences and gun-firing scenes, significantly benefiting the film's earnings. However, some have labeled it as 'propaganda', a term openly addressed by Yami's co-star Priyamani.
Priyamani's Statement
In an interview with News 18, Priyamani revealed the filmmakers' intent behind 'Article 370'. She asserted, 'Some will say it spreads awareness. These stories need to be known.' And another group will always deem it 'complete propaganda.' When we embarked on this project, we wanted to inform people about this historical event, largely unknown to many.'
Priyamani further stated, 'I'm convinced that even though people were aware of it, they didn't comprehend the extent of what individuals went through for the repeal of Article 370. When such a mission is underway, there's always the risk of casualties. But I'm proud to say that this mission, which was completed successfully, resulted in no loss of life, and many were unaware because it was shrouded in secrecy.'
