Alliance with AAP or MP Discontent? Haryana Election Dispute in Congress, CEC to Meet Again

A significant number of seats in the Haryana Congress are under dispute. To resolve this, the CEC has been called again. Even after the sub-committee meeting, disputes continue for over 30 seats. Political circles attribute this tug-of-war to an alliance with AAP and the decision not to give tickets to MPs.

The political climate in Haryana is heating up with the upcoming assembly elections. Candidates' names are being discussed and final lists are being created. Additionally, talks about alliances are underway. Amidst all this, the BJP has released its first list, resulting in some rebellion among leaders. Meanwhile, even before the Congress releases its list, disputes have started. As a result, the party high command has decided to call another CEC meeting regarding the Haryana elections. The CEC will meet on Friday at 5 PM.

This decision follows a marathon sub-committee meeting aimed at resolving seat disputes. Consequently, the release of Congress's first list may be delayed. The Haryana Congress is experiencing conflict over a significant number of seats. To address this, the CEC has been summoned again. Despite the sub-committee meeting, disputes persist over more than 30 seats.

Political circles believe that the controversy is due to the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the decision not to give tickets to certain MPs. It is rumored that some MPs are unhappy about not receiving tickets, although the party has not officially commented on it.

Sources suggest that the Congress President feels it should be presented before the top body, the Congress CEC. The sub-committee has received multiple suggestions for over 30 seats. Another meeting will be held around 11 AM to decide on these 30 seats. Approximately 45 out of 90 seats have been settled, but decisions are pending for almost all the remaining seats.

Congress Leaders Oppose Alliance with AAP

Haryana leader Captain Ajay Yadav has also expressed objections to the AAP alliance. He stated that the central leadership will decide on the AAP alliance, but in his opinion, the Congress does not need an alliance in Haryana. Previously, Punjab's opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa also opposed the Congress-AAP alliance. He said that an alliance with AAP in Haryana should not happen; the more distance from AAP, the better for Congress.

Multiple Meetings Held on AAP-Congress Alliance

All eyes are on the potential alliance between Congress and AAP. Both parties have been holding continuous meetings regarding this alliance. Several rounds have taken place, but there is still a deadlock over seat sharing. According to sources, AAP is demanding 10 seats in Haryana while Congress has offered 7 seats. AAP sources claim that they contested one seat in the previous Lok Sabha elections, which includes 9 assembly seats. Based on this, AAP wants 10 seats in the assembly. Congress has formed a committee to explore alliance possibilities. This committee will review all aspects related to the alliance in the state and will submit a report to the party high command. Based on this report, it will be determined how many seats AAP will get in the state assembly elections.

Discontent in BJP After Candidate List Release

On Wednesday, BJP released a list of 67 candidates. However, after the list was published, BJP faced dissatisfaction from its leaders. Several leaders resigned from the party and announced plans to contest independently. Leaders like Energy and Jail Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala and MLA Laxman Das Napa expressed their displeasure over ticket cuts and announced their departure from the party.

Previous Congress CEC Meetings

On Tuesday, Congress's election committee had a meeting. Sources say the CEC discussed around 49 seats. Reportedly, final talks have taken place for about 30 to 35 seats. The focus during candidate selection was on the likelihood of the candidate winning. Additionally, the performance of multiple-term legislators is also being monitored.

Voting in Haryana on October 5

Voting for the Haryana assembly elections is scheduled for October 5, with all 90 seats voting in one phase. Initially, voting was set for October 1 but was postponed due to the Bishnoi community's centuries-old festival, Asauj Amavasya. The results will be declared on October 8, in conjunction with the Jammu and Kashmir elections.

The term of the 90-seat Haryana Assembly ends on November 3. In the last election, BJP did not achieve a majority. Subsequently, they formed a government in alliance with Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta Party. However, the BJP-JJP coalition ended in March this year. Currently, NDA holds 43 seats while the India Bloc holds 42 seats in Haryana.
