Before the Delhi Assembly elections, Ajay Maken, All India Congress's treasurer, stirred the political corridors with his statement. Maken conceded that the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has proven to be a major misstep for Congress. These remarks were made during the release of a charge sheet and white paper against AAP and BJP.
Maken first referenced Arvind Kejriwal's 49-day government from 2013. He asserted that if Congress had not aided the formation of Kejriwal’s government back then, Delhi's citizens would not be facing such troubles today.
Ajay Maken described the alliance with AAP in the INDIA block during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as detrimental. He mentioned that Congress is paying the price for the adverse effects of this alliance in the current assembly elections.
Recently, there were speculations of another alliance between Congress and AAP, but Arvind Kejriwal clearly denied any such collaboration. With senior leaders from Congress’s central leadership labeling this a mistake, the echo of dissent is evident.
The Congress White Paper Unveiled
As part of their assembly election preparations, Congress released a white paper on Wednesday. Through it, Congress has criticized the BJP and AAP, stating, ‘Amidst the pandemic where bodies piled up, love was showered on Central Vista and opulent palaces instead.’ The white paper also raised questions about the government over the rising pollution in Delhi, remarking ‘Not turned into London, but ranked number one in pollution.’ During this period, Congress unveiled a slogan for the upcoming assembly elections - ‘Progress will smile again in Delhi, under Congress’s leadership.'
