India is increasingly asserting its dominance globally, with Indian entrepreneurs expanding their businesses across all sectors. In the energy sector, billionaire Gautam Adani is focusing on green energy, which is why his Adani Group has erected the world's largest green energy plant on barren land in Khavda, Gujarat. Astonishingly, this plant is five times larger than the capital of France, Paris.
A Massive Green Energy Plant Next to Pakistan
Positioned close to the Pakistan border in Khavda, Gujarat, this green energy plant is one of Adani Group's most ambitious projects. Adani Green Energy Ltd, Gautam Adani's company, has developed this plant. It will generate green energy from solar and wind power. This massive plant spans approximately 538 square kilometers, nearly five times the size of Paris.

Adani's Vision for Barren Lands
According to a Business Today report, when Gautam Adani, India's second-richest individual, first visited Khavda, Gujarat in 2022, he playfully wondered if one could even find a mosquito there. Subsequently, the Adani Group has not only installed solar panels that will convert sunlight into electricity on this barren land but has also set up mills, labor colonies, and desalination plants for pumping saline water.
More Power Generation Than Many Countries' Consumption!
Reports suggest that the plant's current capacity is 2000 megawatts, or 2 gigawatts, of electricity production. Vineet Jain, Managing Director of Adani Green Energy, says the company plans to increase this to 4 gigawatts by the fiscal year 2024-25. When Gautam Adani's plant is fully operational at full capacity, it will produce 30 gigawatts of clean electricity, 26 gigawatts from solar and 4 gigawatts from wind energy. At its peak, the Khavda plant will produce 81 billion units of electricity, which exceeds the entire consumption of countries like Belgium, Chile, and Switzerland.

A Home for 8000 Workers
Adani Green Energy, the country's largest renewable energy company, is investing about INR 1.5 trillion in clean electricity production in Khavda. As part of its broad plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, the Adani Group sees this project playing a pivotal role. The plant's location is 80 kilometers away from the last human settlement, prompting Adani Group to commence preparations for colonies and basic amenities for nearly 8000 workers. Alongside essential services like drinking water, the company is also preparing to offer services like mobile phone repair shops for its workers.
Adani's Net Worth Surpasses $100 Billion
Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, is among the world's richest, with the Bloomberg Billionaires Index reporting his net worth at $104 billion. This places him as the 14th richest individual globally. Since the start of 2024, his wealth has grown by $19.2 billion.
