In the Kolkata Rape-Murder Case, the victim's mother wrote an open letter on Teachers' Day thanking all the educators in her life. Through the letter, she sought support from society in her fight for justice. On 5th September, Teachers' Day, she wrote, 'I am the mother of the poor victim...Today, on Teachers' Day, I salute all the teachers on behalf of my daughter. Since childhood, her dream was to become a doctor. You were the inspiring force behind that dream.'

She further added that as her guardians, they had supported her, and she had worked very hard herself. However, she felt that it was because of having good teachers like them that her daughter was able to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.

'My daughter used to say...'

The victim's mother continued, 'Then came the time for degrees. My daughter used to say, 'Mom, I don't need money, I just need a lot of degrees after my name, and I want to cure as many patients as I can.''

Referring to the day of the incident, she added, 'That day too, when she left home, she had served many patients at the hospital. During her duty, criminals murdered her, and her dreams were brutally crushed. The dream of becoming a gold medalist in MD remains incomplete. Even after this heinous incident, the hospital administration and officials were all set to destroy all evidence.'

'The silence of some people emboldens criminals...'

Towards the end of the letter, the victim's mother wrote, 'As a mother, I humbly request all teachers, doctors, health officials, and nursing staff at the medical college that if anyone has any information or evidence, please bring it forward because I believe that the silence of good people emboldens criminals. With the message of standing with the medical community and the public's movement, saluting all teachers on Teachers' Day, and with the hope of getting justice for the child.'
