It truly is the limit now. Convicted rapist and murderer Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is out of jail once again. After being sentenced for two murders and two rapes, if he's allowed out on leave every other month, what is the point of sentencing and law? But what can one do when the government and law themselves bestow favors, to whom do we complain and where do we seek justice?
Indeed, the prison turned into an inn. The law became a joke. Punishments turned into daily wages. Who says the law is equal for everyone? Gurmeet alone has debunked all these sayings. He also showed that even if someone rapes, murders, and serves dual life sentences of 20 years each, they can still enjoy freedom outside the jail.
In our country, perhaps in-laws don't visit as often. But this person has exceptionally fulfilled the jail-as-in-laws' house saying numerous times. Earlier this year, on January 28, after celebrating a full month off, brother returned to jail. But within just 40 days, the then-rock star Baba, who was also the Love Charger, emerged once again from the so-called in-laws' house.
Yes, on January 28th of this year, the gentleman was released on parole for a full month. On February 28, he returned to jail, and within 40 days, once again, on April 9, 2025, the Haryana government and the court were charmed by this unique Baba, granting him another 21 days of freedom from jail. In just 40 days, the Love Charger was once again out of the in-laws' house.
Astonishingly, there's no ongoing election in or around Haryana. Previously, Baba often emerged from jail to partake in electioneering. This time, his freedom is aligned with the Dera Sacha Sauda's foundation day celebrations, the same Dera Sacha Sauda under which he committed two murders and two rapes. The Dera Sacha Sauda foundation day is on April 29. Thanks to the government's and law's grace, this Baba will reside in Dera Sacha Sauda instead of jail for the next 21 days.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there are nearly 600,000 inmates across various jails in the country. Among these, about 175,000 are convicts, meaning whose offences have been adjudged and punishment handed. Claim is, visit any jail nationwide, and point out just one inmate who within the past seven years, has been released outside jail for more than 255 days on parole and furlough. The search will never yield another name except Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The question looms, why does someone like Gurmeet Ram Rahim receive such favored parole and furlough when there are formidable inmates in our jails? Remember, before being known as a rapist and murderer, Gurmeet had a face dubbed 'Baba'. Many prominent figures kneeled and hailed in his court. Now, that same Baba is receiving return gifts. Interestingly, these gifts peak during election seasons. And here, every season is election season - be it municipality elections, panchayat elections, assembly polls, Lok Sabha votes... even by-elections.
From January 20, 2024, to the most recent 21 days' parole, Ram Rahim enjoyed a period of 142 days outside jail. Meaning, in the 365-day span of a year, Ram Rahim spent 142 days enjoying freedom outside incarceration. Properly, rules assert that no inmate may stay outside jail on parole or furlough for over four months in a year. Yet, with Ram Rahim, even this rule was trampled. From January 2024 to April 9, 2025, Ram Rahim was let go on parole or furlough five times outside jail.
Since October 24, 2020, up until now, Ram Rahim received parole or furlough on 13 occasions. In this manner, he has remained free from jail for a total of 326 days. About an entire year. In various jails nationwide, both current and past, there is no other inmate granted such extensive holidays in such brief periods. Before Ram Rahim, even filmstar Sanjay Dutt faced questions regarding furlough or parole releases. Throughout his sentence, Sanjay Dutt enjoyed freedom barely up to 160 days on parole or furlough. When media noise rose regarding this, further parole or furlough freedom for Sanjay was halted.
In the famous Jessica Lal murder case, convict Manu Sharma also faced scrutiny for frequent parole and furlough releases. During his parole, Manu Sharma once danced with friends in a nightclub, which grabbed substantial media attention. Following this, Manu Sharma's releases were put on hold as well. Yet, despite years in jail, Manu Sharma could never surpass the record set by Ram Rahim's 7-8 years. Because Ram Rahim acclaimed such outsized freedom on parole and furlough in only 7-8 years which Manu Sharma never attained.
It's evident when decisions regarding parole and furlough are made based on influence, questions arise. Thus, people are raising questions over Haryana government's decision to grant parole to Ram Rahim. While countless inmates remain, despite completing sentences, barred from release, Ram Rahim continuously benefits from parole. The question is, if the government garners no benefit from this, why shower such favor over Ram Rahim? However, the Haryana government considers this a routine affair, asserting parole is every convict's right and Ram Rahim is no exception.
