In the serene neighborhood of Kalyan Vihar in Delhi's Model Town, a tragic event unfolded as Puneet Khurana, a man of 39, ended his life by hanging himself. Authorities are delving into various angles, including business losses, to understand the motives behind this heartbreaking incident. Puneet had married in 2016, but the marriage had been fraught with challenges, leading to divorce proceedings. Reports suggest that domestic tension played a significant role in his distress. On the day of his death, Puneet had spoken with his wife over the phone, reportedly discussing business matters.
According to family accounts, Puneet's marriage to Manika Pahwa from Model Town began on a promising note but soon encountered rocky waters. After two years of living separately from his parents, Puneet returned home when disagreements escalated. Meanwhile, Manika moved back to her parents, eventually leading to both filing for divorce. Puneet's family alleges that the strife inflicted by Manika and her family drove him to this drastic step.
Puneet, who operated a bakery in Model Town, returned home at 3 AM on December 31 and went to bed. By noon, when he hadn't emerged, his concerned mother called his phone but received no answer. After failing to reach him, she alerted his father. Around 3:30 PM, upon breaking down the door, they found him lifeless. Immediate medical attention was sought, but doctors could not revive him.
The couple had jointly managed a bakery business. The family claims that Manika insisted on being a business partner, despite the ongoing divorce. Allegedly, Manika had shared recorded conversations with a relative.
The police have retrieved Puneet's phone, and will now proceed to question his wife, though no recordings have surfaced yet. There was no public video or post from Puneet before his tragic decision. Investigations continue as the police scrutinize the allegations.
