A spine-chilling incident of rape followed by murder has been reported from Maharashtra's Gondia district. A 12-year-old tribal girl was tragically assaulted and later brutally murdered. Her body callously discarded in the woods, her assailants remain unidentified as the police continue their search.

According to reports, the heinous act occurred on April 19th. The victim, a sixth-grade student, had attended a relative's wedding in a village within the Deori tehsil. From there, she was kidnapped by an unknown individual.

Her parents embarked on a frantic search, but to no avail. During this period, information surfaced of a mutilated body lying in the Dhavalkhedi jungle near the village. The victim's relatives rushed to the scene and tragically recognized her body.

After discovering their daughter's body, the family alerted the Chichgad police station, prompting a swift response. Following the retrieval of the body, an autopsy was conducted, and a case against unidentified individuals has been filed based on the family's statement.

Several tribal organizations staged protests outside the Deori sub-divisional magistrate's office on Tuesday and Wednesday, warning of intensified agitation if the perpetrator was not arrested promptly. A memorandum was also presented in this context.

Demands were made for the immediate arrest of the culprit and capital punishment for the crime. Following the incident, police superintendent Nikhil Pingle, along with senior police officials, met with the victim's family, affirming that the case is being investigated from all angles.
