Bihar's famous YouTuber Manish Kashyap will become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. Arriving at the party headquarters in Delhi, he will be officially inducted into the BJP. Earlier, he had announced an intent to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the West Champaran seat, but has since decided against it.

Known as the 'Son of Bihar,' Manish Kashyap had already begun campaigning for the West Champaran seat. Initially keen to run as an independent candidate, he made the significant decision to join the BJP. Previously in 2020, he had contested as an independent candidate from the Chanpatia assembly seat in Bihar, where he faced defeat.

Manish Kashyap made headlines when he was arrested over a fake viral video incident. He spent approximately nine months behind bars. In addition, he is recognized as a successful YouTuber with around 8.75 million subscribers. His videos, often addressing social issues related to Bihar, have been popular for years, enjoyed not only in Bihar but across the Hindi-speaking regions.

Why was Manish Kashyap arrested?

A purported video showing violence against Bihar laborers in Tamil Nadu went viral after Kashyap shared it on his YouTube channel. Following its spread, Tamil Nadu Police denounced the video as misleading, and an FIR was filed. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police also lodged a report against Kashyap in connection with the incident.
