Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a strong stance against a recent order by the Panchayati Raj Department that tied the eviction of illegal land occupants to specific castes and religions. The Chief Minister considered the order prejudiced and unacceptable, directing its immediate cancellation. Surendra Nath Singh, the Joint Director (Panchayati Raj) responsible for the directive, has been suspended.

The letter issued by the Panchayati Raj Department was sent to all district officers, directing the liberation of more than 57,000 gram panchayats' public lands, including village assembly lands, ponds, threshing floors, manure pits, and cremation grounds. However, the language of the letter specifically mentioned alleged encroachments by the Yadav community and Muslims, which led to objections at various levels.

Upon reviewing the situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared the order as contrary to the spirit of the Constitution, emphasizing that government policies should never be driven by bias against any community or group. He clarified that the rule of law applies equally to all, and that any actions should be based entirely on facts, evidence, and regulations, rather than caste or religious identity.

In a statement issued by the government, the Chief Minister further instructed that language potentially affecting social harmony should not be used in any future governmental communications. He also warned officials to strictly adhere to constitutional values, impartiality, and administrative decorum when making decisions on behalf of the government.
