A significant overturn in the global smartphone market has been witnessed. The Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has climbed to the second spot in terms of global smartphone sales. This is the first instance since August 2021 that Xiaomi has surpassed Apple, although there hasn't been a substantial increase in Xiaomi's sales volume.
This shift is attributed to a decline in Apple's sales. According to a Counterpoint report, Xiaomi is the fastest-growing smartphone brand in 2024. Xiaomi outperformed in August, reaping benefits for the company.
Despite downturns in key markets, Xiaomi performed well, thanks to its strategy. Although the company experienced growth setbacks in 2022 and the first half of 2023, Xiaomi has now made a comeback. Changes in product offerings, sales, and channel strategies have started paying off for the company.

Samsung retains the top spot. With new iPhones launching in September and the upcoming festive season, Apple’s smartphone sales are expected to rise. The company may soon reclaim the second or even the first position.
