In the Asia Cup 2025, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team has had an outstanding start to their campaign. Team India defeated UAE by 9 wickets in their opening match. Now, the Indian team is poised to face their longstanding rivals, Pakistan, on September 14, Sunday. Ahead of the crucial match against Pakistan, former Indian captain Kapil Dev made a significant statement.

Kapil Dev remarked that the Indian team is playing excellent cricket and is poised to win the tournament. Commenting on leadership, Kapil Dev stated that it's not a big issue. More than captaincy, playing for the country is what truly matters. Kapil Dev believes that with the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (ROKO) from T20I and Test cricket, young players now have a chance to prove themselves.

Speaking to reporters, Kapil Dev said, 'Team India will play and will return victorious, this is our hope. The way India is playing, we are confident that they will come back as winners.'

Regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Kapil Dev added, 'Their time was precious. They performed excellently, playing commendably for India. Now, the new generation has to prove themselves.'

Kapil Dev states, 'Focus should be on Team India, not on individuals. When India plays, we need to pay attention to their performance. Whoever performs well will win.'

On the India versus Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025, Kapil Dev expressed, 'Our wishes are with the Indian team to win. Good luck to the team.'

Finally, Kapil Dev concluded, 'The team's performance is significant. You watch who is captain and who isn't, but I view it as a privilege that everyone represents the country, which is a matter of pride. Captaincy isn't as big a deal; representing the country is what truly matters.'
