In a gripping operation, Delhi Police's Special Task Force raided an illegal arms factory nestled in the village of Anerda Garhi, Mathura district. Braving a three-kilometer path submerged in parts with water depths ranging from 3 to 8 feet, with no mobile connectivity and sheer darkness, the determined police team reached the clandestine haven of the illegal arms.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Raja Banthia, stated that it took nearly two hours for the patrol to reach the hidden arms factory. Despite the submerged fields, low visibility, and communication setbacks, the team successfully dismantled the factory's operations, capturing the present suspect, Shivcharan (60). While returning, Shivcharan tried to exploit the waterlogged fields to escape but was quickly apprehended due to the team's vigilance.
The suspect attempted to divert his path to elude capture, but the officers, showcasing excellent alertness, nabbed him swiftly. Investigations from the locals revealed that to ward off intruders, the suspect had employed two dogs acting as guardians around the factory's perimeter. Upon interrogation, Shivcharan admitted previously working with an associate, Hanveer.
Hanveer had been apprehended during a recent raid in Aligarh. Post this, Shivcharan independently managed the Mathura facility. The roles were divided; Hanveer catered to the manufacturing and supply while profits were shared. The police raid led to the discovery of a substantial cache of weapons within the factory premises.
The haul included 14 country-made pistols (comprising 9 single-barrel and 5 double-barrel), a musket gun, over 350 raw components for pistol crafting, 50 barrels, 28 barrel pipes, wooden handles, and several other parts. Sophisticated machinery essential for arms manufacturing, such as a drill machine, cutter, grinder, and saw, were confiscated. This entire operation transpired merely within 10 days of the recovery in Aligarh.
