Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant poured out his admiration for Aiden Markram who, by scoring a brilliant century in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, powered South Africa to a remarkable 5-wicket victory. This triumph marked an end to South Africa's 27-year drought of ICC titles, earning them their first WTC trophy.
Pant, who captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2025 season, developed an excellent rapport with teammates Markram and Nicholas Pooran. Although LSG fell short of reaching the playoffs, both Pooran (524 runs) and Markram (445 runs) delivered stellar performances.

Following Pooran's announcement of retirement from international cricket, Pant was quick to extend his best wishes via social media. Now, with Markram's match-winning century in the final, Pant shared an emotional message on social media, affectionately referring to him as "bhai."
On the platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Pant wrote, 'What a splendid innings, Aiden bhai. Overjoyed for you. A masterclass under pressure, making us all proud. Congratulations to South Africa on clinching the WTC title.' Currently, Pant is participating in an intra-squad practice match with the Indian team in Kent, England, ahead of the five-match Test series against England starting on June 20th at Headingley, Leeds.
