Former Sri Lanka captain Lahiru Thirimanne suffered serious injuries in a road accident on Thursday (March 14). Thirimanne's car collided head-on with a truck. The accident occurred near Anuradhapura, a central city in Sri Lanka. Following the crash, Thirimanne has been admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

The severity of Thirimanne's injuries is unclear, but his condition is reported to be stable. Another passenger in Thirimanne's vehicle was also admitted to the same hospital. Thirimanne was traveling to a temple with his family when their car was involved in the accident.

The franchise issued an update on Thirimanne, stating, 'We would like to inform that Lahiru Thirimanne was en route to a temple with his family when the car accident occurred. He is under observation in the hospital. They are all safe and healthy, and there is no cause for concern. We appreciate the concern and support expressed on behalf of everyone during this time.'
