Famed IPS officer Shivdeep Vamanrao Lande, known across the state as 'Singham', has tendered his resignation. Recently, Shivdeep Lande was appointed as the new IG of the Purnia Commissionerate, a position he had already taken charge of.
Shivdeep Lande, an officer recognized for his swift action against narcotics in four districts, announced his resignation through his official Facebook page.
Subsequently, Lande made a statement to the media, saying, 'I have resigned from the Indian Police Service for personal reasons.'
Earlier in a Facebook post, he wrote, 'My dear Bihar, after serving in a government position for the past 18 years, I have decided to resign from my post. During these years, I have considered Bihar above myself and my family. If there were any mistakes during my tenure as a public servant, I apologize for them. Today, I am resigning from the Indian Police Service (IPS), but I will remain in Bihar, which will continue to be my karmabhumi.'
Shivdeep Lande Hails from Maharashtra
In his Facebook post, Shivdeep Lande clarified that even after resigning, he will stay in Bihar and continue to consider it his working land. Shivdeep Lande, originally from Akola, Maharashtra, had worked as the IG in Maharashtra ATS while deputed to Mumbai.
Recently Appointed in Purnia
Recently, under the Nitish government, Shivdeep Lande was transferred and appointed as the IG of the Purnia Commissionerate, assigned the critical task of eliminating drugs like smack from the region. After his joining, Lande became active in fighting against drug traffickers in the four districts under Purnia Commissionerate—Purnia, Araria, Katihar, and Kishanganj.
This morning, his sudden resignation announcement left many shocked. It is worth noting that Shivdeep Lande had a challenging and impoverished childhood. A talented individual, Shivdeep Lande completed his engineering studies through scholarships and later topped the UPSC exams, securing a position in the Bihar cadre where he served as an IPS officer for 18 years.
