Towards the end of January and beginning of February, weather patterns are set to shift once again. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh Western Disturbance will start affecting Northwestern India from the night of January 30. This impact will be noticeable in the Western Himalayan region from January 31 to February 2.

A Western Disturbance is a type of weather system originating from the West. It primarily activates during winter, bringing rain or snowfall to mountainous areas. It also causes light to moderate rainfall in plains.
When and where will the impact of the Western Disturbance be felt?
The Western Disturbance's influence will begin on January 31 and last until February 2, peaking on February 1. States in the Western Himalayas, such as Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, will experience severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and snowfall.
In the plains, moderate rainfall is expected in Northwestern India, affecting regions such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, along with parts of Central India. Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by winds at speeds of 30-40 kilometers per hour, are also predicted.
According to the weather forecast by IMD, possible rainfall is anticipated across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh reaching as far as Bihar. Light to moderate rain is expected over three days starting January 31. Dense fog may cover parts of Northwestern, Central, and Eastern India on February 2.
Weather Changes Alert for Delhi-NCR Over the Weekend
According to Skymet Weather, after the night of January 30, 2026, a new Western Disturbance may approach the Western Himalayas, possibly causing another spell of rainfall in Delhi-NCR. Although heavy rain is not expected, light showers may occur over the weekend. From January 31 to February 3, 2026, light showers are anticipated in Delhi-NCR, marking the beginning of February with a wet note.
Weather Activities Expected Over the Next 24 Hours
As forecasted by Skymet Weather, over the next 24 hours, Uttarakhand may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds along with rain and snowfall. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are also likely over parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Northern Chhattisgarh. Over the next two days, a gradual temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected in Northwestern, Central, and Eastern India, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
