The Trinamool Congress and Muslim organizations are fiercely opposing the Waqf Amendment Act in West Bengal. Continuing this opposition, TMC leader and minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury addressed a massive rally at Kolkata's Ramlila Maidan organized by the West Bengal Unit of Jamiat-Ulama-e-Hind on Thursday. Demanding the immediate rollback of the amendments, the minister threatened large-scale traffic jams in Kolkata.
Addressing the gathering, Siddiqullah Chowdhury expressed that they could easily bring Kolkata to a standstill with widespread protests. He stated, 'If we want to shut down Kolkata, we can easily gather 2,000 people at 50 locations to block the traffic. We haven't done it yet, but we are strategizing to start from the districts and then deploy 10,000 people at each of the 50 spots in Kolkata. They won't have to do much; they will come, sit, and enjoy snacks like puffed rice, jaggery, and sweets.'
