The renowned and trusted India Today–CVoter 'Mood of the Nation' survey results have been released. The survey sought public opinions regarding the freedom and fairness of elections in India. It also posed questions about the SIR process and the use of investigative agencies.

Do you believe that elections in India are free and fair?

When asked if people believe Indian elections are free and fair, this year's response has been concerning.

Last year, in August, 64% believed elections were conducted in a fair manner. This January, 57% maintained that belief.

Clearly, those who said 'No' increased from 32% in August to 37% in January. Additionally, while 4% were uncertain in August 2025, this rose to 6% in January 2025.

Is the SIR process politically unbiased?

Asked if the SIR process is free of political bias, half of the participants leaned toward electoral commission's perspective, with 50% agreeing. However, 38% disagreed, and 12% were unsure.
