I don't want views... I don't want to go viral anymore. People bother me... This is what a content creator known as 'Bihari Russian Girl' conveyed, who, after going viral once, is now fed up with online trolling. People harassed her to such an extent that she had to shut down her business.
Nowadays, almost anyone can go viral on social media, but the pursuit of popularity can either make or rupture one's life. Although few can maintain the fame they experience over a couple of days, many struggle to meet the high expectations of online followers, leading to severe trolling that can greatly disrupt their lives. A notable example is Rosie Neha Singh, who was so distressed by her viral fame that she had to close her business.
Rosie Neha Singh, from Sonpur in Bihar, shared her thoughts in a conversation with Aaj Tak Digital. She openly stated that she is tired of trolls and does not want views. The online attacks have overshadowed the support from her followers. People pose questions that she finds difficult to answer.
Opened a Litti-Chicken Stall in Ranchi
Rosie currently resides in Ranchi, the capital city of the neighboring state of Jharkhand. She stated that going viral once turned into a curse for her life. She was creating content out of hobby without any idea that once viral, people would give less love and more trouble.
Neha elaborated that she worked as a beautician and liked to cook as a hobby. She opened a litti and chicken stall and decided to promote it through her hobby content creation. Making a video about her stall and posting it online drew more customers, which initially benefited her greatly.
Some followers, due to her looks, mistook her for a Russian or foreign national. Comments often included questions like, 'Are you Russian?' or 'Are you from another country?' So, she once created a humorous video responding to these followers in her Bihari language, saying she is a true Bihari girl. The video was made in a laughable tone and was just a joke. It went viral, receiving numerous likes, views, and shares.
After Going Viral, Created Similar Content
Neha shared that garnering millions of views felt good, inspiring her to create similar content, revealing she was not a foreigner. Initially, people continued with similar questions, but then started trolling her. When unable to answer everyone’s questions or create content around them, negative comments flooded in.
After going viral, many bloggers approached her, sharing videos of her and her stall. Some supported her and showed love, while some merely sought personal gain. If she couldn't make content with some or find time for them, they started trolling her.
Online Trolls Started Reaching Her Stall
Neha narrates that it wasn't just online trolls; people started arriving at her shop too. Her litti and chicken stall was located in a prime spot in Ranchi, yet people would turn up intoxicated. Some sought photos or selfies by force. If denied, they would return to cause trouble.
'I Don't Want Views, Just Want Peaceful Business'
Ultimately, Neha had to shut down her litti-chicken stall. She expressed her desire to live peacefully, away from the viral frenzy, trolls, and content creation. Her family is unaware of online viral fame or trolling. She doesn't even know how accounts are monetized or how to earn online from millions of views. She simply wants to open a shop peacefully and run her business without hassles.
In hindsight, starting content creation for publicity was a mistake. Though good views came in, creating similar content repeatedly for viral fame became a burden. She no longer wants views.
