Shiv Sena (Shinde) Deputy Leader and spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam has made a striking claim, stating that 16 members of the opposition India Bloc, including five from Uddhav Thackeray's party, have cross-voted in favor of the NDA candidate in the Vice Presidential election. During a press conference in Andheri, Mumbai, he revealed this surprising turn of events.
Nirupam also alleged that MPs from Sharad Pawar's party supported C.P. Radhakrishnan, sealing his victory. He mentioned that before the election, the opposition had spread rumors asserting an inevitable win for the India Bloc, suggesting a defeat for the NDA candidate. However, the election results, Nirupam stated, clarified the disarray within the India Bloc, highlighting the unity of the NDA.
He continued by saying that this outcome led to a significant win for C.P. Radhakrishnan in the Vice Presidential race. According to Nirupam, the India Bloc can't resort to excuses of vote tampering or EVM malfunctions. He reassured that the entire election process was transparent and fair. Furthermore, he expressed his discontent with Sanjay Raut's remark that what happened in Nepal could also occur in India.
Nirupam demanded that Raut retract his statement within 24 hours and issue an apology, threatening to file a complaint otherwise. He urged police to automatically register the case.
Nirupam accused Raut of linking events in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with India in the past. With similar rhetoric about Nepal's violence, Nirupam criticized Raut's comments as anti-national and akin to treason.
Nirupam highlighted that approximately 70 to 75 lakh Nepalese reside in India, emphasizing their close ties with Indians as brethren. He declared that Indians would oppose any conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the nation. Accusing Raut of inciting violence and opposing the constitution and democracy, Nirupam's words were firm and resolute.
