An astounding case has emerged from Vadodara, Gujarat. Here, a man was swindled out of a whopping 27 million rupees by his own sister and her son. Under the guise of helping him secure a Canadian visa, they extracted millions, and when no visa materialized, nor were the funds returned, the disheartened uncle turned to the police.

Darshan Patel from Vadodara reported to the authorities that he had gone to London on a student visa in 2009 and returned to India in 2014. During a visit to his cousin Divyangiben post the pandemic, she mentioned her son Dhruv Patel, residing in Canada, could assist in visa arrangements.

When Darshan approached his nephew Dhruv, he initially asked for funds for a visitor visa, later suggesting complications necessitated a work permit visa, for which he again collected money. He even sent fake work permit letters and air tickets, making Darshan believe everything was legitimate.

At the last moment, Dhruv claimed an issue with the work permit and suggested obtaining a business visa for Canada, for which he also took a large sum. Upon verifying the tickets and visa, Darshan discovered they were counterfeit.

When Darshan called Dhruv demanding a refund, he received no response. Conversations with his sister yielded no resolution. After Dhruv's father's demise in June 2024, when Dhruv visited Vadodara, Darshan once again asked for his money, which Dhruv refused to return.

In the presence of some acquaintances, Dhruv made a token agreement using his Vadodara-based house, promising repayment. However, even after eight months, no money was returned. Exhausted, Darshan Patel finally filed a police complaint against his sister and nephew. Vadodara police have now registered a case under several sections against Divyangi Patel and Dhruv Patel and are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
