In the city of Rohtak, Haryana, the clock struck 11 on a regular Saturday morning. The busy Sampla bus stand teemed with people as usual. Out of the blue, a large blue suitcase caught a passerby’s eye. Out of curiosity, a few approached, but doubtful suspicions led them to alert the police. Upon opening the suitcase, both the police and the onlookers were shocked to discover the lifeless body of a young woman inside.
She adorned mehndi on her hands and donned a black scarf around her neck. Dressed in a white top and red pants, it appeared that she was strangled to death, with her body then placed into the suitcase. The higher authorities were informed in haste. Forensic teams arrived promptly, yet by afternoon, the identity of the woman remained unknown, leading to her body being sent to a local hospital for a post-mortem. The area was abuzz with alarm and speculation.
In the meantime, photographs of the deceased woman circulated swiftly on social media. The tragic incident reached Rohtak MLA B.B. Batra, who identified the woman as Himani Narwal. A fervent Congress activist, Himani was known for actively participating in every party event. She was frequently seen during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, with numerous photos of her available on social media platforms.
MLA B.B. Batra has demanded the formation of an SIT to investigate Himani Narwal's murder. He lamented the crumbling law and order in Haryana, attributing the fearlessness among criminals to repeated incidents like these. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda also expressed shock over this tragic incident. He advocated for an exhaustive and fair investigation, ensuring justice for the bereaved family.
