Breaking news from Uttar Pradesh concerns IPS Jugal Kishore Tiwari, who served as DIG of Fire Services. He has been reinstated by the authorities. Tiwari was suspended while being involved in giving a clean chit during a departmental inquiry to a firefighter stationed in Unnao. His suspension was widely discussed.
Notably, on July 10th, IPS officer Jugal Kishore Tiwari was placed on suspension. At the time, he was positioned as DIG of Fire Services, with the suspension attributed to violations of conduct guidelines.
He was accused of exceeding his jurisdiction by favoring a firefighter on leave for more than two years by going beyond the regulations.
In Unnao, a firefighter absent from duty due to illness faced two simultaneous penalties for unauthorized absence. These included three years of minimum pay and leave without pay for the absent period.
In an incident from about a year and a half ago, the then SP Unnao penalized the firefighter. An appeal was made to the department's DIG, who, based on the principle of not awarding two punishments for one offense, freed the fire department driver from the charge.
Jugal Kishore argued he acted in accordance with the rules. He promised to present his case in the appropriate forum and questioned his suspension.
