The United States has once again deployed its B-2 Spirit nuclear stealth bomber after several years, targeting the Houthi rebels' weapon depot in Yemen. This costly American arsenal delivered a devastating blow, obliterating the underground concrete bunkers that housed the weapons.

The Houthi rebels had been using these weapons to attack international vessels in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden, launching missiles, rockets, and drones. This American offensive aims to weaken the Houthis and eliminate threats to international maritime routes.

Moreover, the US Navy has deployed 30% of its warships to the Middle East. The distance to Yemen is about 3659 kilometers, allowing rapid intervention within three hours. The B-2 bomber boasts a range of approximately 11,000 kilometers, operated by a pilot and a mission commander.

The Power and Features of This Bomber

This bomber, 69 feet in length with wings spanning 172 feet, is 17 feet high and weighs 71,700 kg empty. Fully armed, it can take off with a weight of 170,000 kg and reach speeds of 1010 km/hr, generally cruising at 900 km/hr at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet.

Capacity for 80 Small Bombs or 16 Nuclear Bombs

With two internal bays, bombs are loaded inside the bomber before doors open over targets. It accommodates 230 kg MK-82 and GBU-38 bombs on bomb racks, with room for about 80 bombs.

Alternatively, it can carry thirty-six 340 kg CBU class bombs in addition to housing a rotary launcher with sixteen 910 kg bombs or sixteen B61 or B83 nuclear bombs.
