According to a public notice on the commission’s website, the UP PCS exam will adhere to its traditional one-day schedule, while a committee is set to review the recruitment exams for Review Officers. With the exam date set for December 22, 2024, over 1 million (10,76,004) candidates are expected to participate.

General Studies Papers 1 and 2

Each paper bears a weight of 200 marks accompanied by 150 objective questions. Candidates are allocated 2 hours per paper. Notably, General Studies Paper 2, known as the qualifying paper, consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Aspirants must score a minimum of 33% to clear this test.

The cumulative time allocated for both papers is 4 hours, covering an array of subjects like Indian History, Geography, Politics, Economics, and Science. Candidates can select an optional subject for the prelims alongside compulsory subjects including General Hindi, Essay Writing, and General Studies.

Main Examination

Successful candidates of the prelims will advance to the mains. The main examination demands meticulous preparation, with 3 hours designated per subject and a weightage of 200 marks per subject.
