Earlier Fraud Ring Busted in Lucknow
It is worth mentioning that a similar fraud case had surfaced in Lucknow previously. In that instance, four suspects were apprehended for defrauding over 700 job seekers of more than 2 crore rupees. The culprits had set up a fake call center to execute their fraudulent activities, employing M.Tech and B.Tech graduates as staff. Their arrests were made during a raid by the UP STF.
These suspects operated a call center in Indiranagar, Lucknow. They sourced contact numbers of unemployed individuals through the internet and other means. Following this, they would contact these individuals and demand sums ranging from 50,000 to 1 lakh rupees on the pretext of job placement, in two or three installments. They had been operating this call center for three years.
