The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) is holding exams for the recruitment of over 60,000 constables. The exams commence on Friday, August 23, and will conclude on August 31. On the first day, a massive crowd of candidates was observed. Candidates arrived in the respective cities a day before the August 23rd paper. The Jhansi railway station saw a significant influx of police candidates on Thursday night. When students couldn't find a place, they slept on the platform. Some were even seen studying on the platform.

Administration Claims Extra Trains

New trains and buses have been claimed to be running by the administration to ensure students reach the police exam centers easily. Despite this, buses and trains were still heavily crowded with students. Some reached the exam centers lying on the train floors.

The UP Police recruitment exam paper was leaked in February 2024, which led candidates to demand the cancellation of the exam. Following their demands, the government annulled the paper. Consequently, the police recruitment exams are now being held on August 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31. The administration has arranged stringent security for the exams.

According to statistics, more than 4.8 million candidates are expected to participate in the police recruitment exam. Organizing the exam for such a large number is also a significant challenge for the administration. The exam will be held in two shifts - the first shift from 10 AM to 12 PM, and the second shift from 3 PM to 5 PM.
