The violence that erupted in the wake of anti-government protests in Nepal is now impacting districts of Uttar Pradesh adjacent to the India-Nepal border. Considering the situation, UP Police have established a special control room at the DGP Headquarters in Lucknow, monitoring the deteriorating conditions in Nepal and aiding affected Indians.
According to police, 409 Indians are currently stranded in Nepal. Out of these, 277 have safely returned, while preparations are underway for the remaining 132. The control room at the DGP Headquarters is continuously monitoring Nepal's situation and keeping an eye on reports from news channels.
Thirty police stations spread across seven districts in Uttar Pradesh bordering Nepal are deemed sensitive. There is a concern that prisoners or suspects who escaped during the unrest in Nepal might cross into villages in UP. Thus, the police have increased vigilance along the border and intensified intelligence surveillance.
The DGP Headquarters has issued helpline numbers for citizens' assistance. People can call 0522-2390257, 0522-2724010. Additionally, facilities for calling, WhatsApp calling, and messaging are available at mobile number 9454401674.
Inspector Sachin Singh, the shift in-charge of the control room, mentioned that his team is constantly updating the list of stranded individuals in Nepal and coordinating with their families. The police claim that the situation is being monitored every moment and immediate action will be taken if necessary.
