In many cities of UP, the rains that had been pouring for several days have now stopped, but the flood situation still persists in many areas. Ayodhya is particularly affected, with waterlogged streets creating numerous problems for residents. Continuous rainfall has led to water accumulation in various places, disrupting daily life.

Although the rains have ceased in UP, as per weather forecasts, there will be no further rain for a few days. Additionally, temperatures will hover around 32 degrees Celsius. However, despite the stoppage of rain, the water in Ayodhya still presents a big challenge. Not just Ayodhya, but 15 villages across 15 districts in UP, with a population of 2.5 million, are currently flooded.

At Ayodhya's Guptar Ghat, a popular tourist spot, the only thing in sight now is floodwater. Chairs meant for tourists are submerged, and water has even reached temples. Local shopkeepers report that their businesses have been ruined and they have had to move their shops. Moreover, the water at Saryu Ghat has risen several steps, preventing the usual ceremonial offerings. Authorities have placed warning signs indicating the risk of drowning and advising people to stay back.

The Saryu’s overflow has brought severe flooding to Ayodhya. The Demwa Bridge, a crucial passage for the district, has been cut off and swept away by floodwaters, halting all movement. Nearby villages and police stations are also submerged. Several rivers, including Rapti, Sharda, Ghaghra, Kosi, Muhana, and Suheli, are in spate. Water released from Nepal has exacerbated the floods in Ayodhya, Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gorakhpur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Badaun, Deoria, Kushinagar, Basti, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Siddharth Nagar.

Discussing the flood conditions in UP, CM Yogi Adityanath mentioned that previously, floods would occur in August or September. However, this year, the floods in October post-Vijayadashami have been unexpected. CM Yogi has instructed that all ministerial groups immediately tour their designated divisions and districts to assist in relief and rescue operations. Additionally, he has mandated that control rooms remain active 24/7 to monitor the flood situation and assess the damage in affected areas.
