An unusual scene unfolded in today's monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly when Finance Minister Suresh Khanna started reciting poetry while responding to a question by an SP legislator. Amid the proceedings, CM Yogi Adityanath, sitting next to him, burst into peals of laughter. It was Yogi himself who quietly signaled Khanna to recite poetry. The entire Assembly resounded with laughter upon hearing Khanna's poetic renditions, creating a joyous atmosphere.
During the
Assembly session
, a light-hearted exchange of jokes was ongoing between Suresh Khanna and the SP legislator. Pointing towards the legislator, Khanna remarked that his hair had turned white right here in the Assembly, implying his vast experience. He jestfully noted that the black hairs seen are due to chemicals.
In response, the SP legislator commented that Khanna Ji care for him deeply and remain in his heart. Taking this playfully, Khanna added that he often wishes the legislator well, hoping he would visit them in Shahjahanpur this Holi. He then recited a couplet, saying, 'I am not inclined to recite couplets for free; serve me a cup of tea, and I’ll present a ghazal.'
It is worth noting that the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature commenced today (Monday). At the beginning, CM Yogi introduced four new ministers—Om Prakash Rajbhar, Dara Singh Chauhan, Anil Kumar, and Sunil Sharma—to the Assembly. Additionally, the new Leader of the Opposition, Mata Prasad Pandey, was introduced by Speaker Satish Mahana.
Subsequently, Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey addressed the Assembly about the state's problems. Meanwhile, SP members began raising slogans in the well of the House over issues including law and order, inflation, unemployment, problems faced by sugarcane farmers, electricity, and alleged fake encounters. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana appealed to all members to refrain from sloganeering, and the session resumed shortly thereafter.
