Uttar Pradesh's Energy Minister, Arvind Kumar Sharma (AK Sharma), fiercely reprimanded the officials in his department. In a meeting with Power Corporation officials, he took leaders from the chairman to XEN level to task. Minister AK Sharma questioned, 'What is happening in the state...transformers are exploding in our presence, and MLAs and public representatives are cursing us and the government, yet you say everything is fine? This cannot continue; improve your work ethic, step out of the comfort of your air-conditioned rooms, and prepare for strict action.'
On Monday, Minister AK Sharma convened a review meeting at Shakti Bhawan in Lucknow. During this session, he heavily criticized the power department officials. The minister stated unequivocally, 'I'm not here to listen to excuses. You sit blind and deaf, while the public curses me.'

The minister labeled the officials as unaware of public issues, stating that the ground reality is entirely different. He declared, 'The power department is not a petty shop; it is public service. The public is harassed by incorrect bills, unnecessary FIRs, and false reports. It seems you have taken it upon yourselves to defame the government.'
AK Sharma issued a clear warning to the officials: 'I am accountable to the public. This behavior will no longer be tolerated. Those who do not go to the field and ignore public complaints will face stern action. Negligence in power service will not be tolerated. Quality and reliable supply is the government's topmost priority.'

In the meeting, Minister AK Sharma tightly cornered a responsible official, saying, "Ashish, we are not running a private shop where no money means no electricity. This is public service, and service must be provided. And yes, what system have you put in place? If one household doesn’t pay the bill, you cut off the entire village's power. What kind of mindset is this?"
The energy minister didn't stop there. He noted that unnecessary vigilance raids are being conducted in places where real electricity theft occurs, no action is taken. Money is being extorted in the name of FIRs. Moreover, when transformers burn out, they're not replaced for weeks. That's why I'm urging you to face the public. Sitting on chairs, creating false reports of 'all is well' won't work.
