A shocking incident has emerged from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. Here, in the village of Hariharpur under the Tadiyawa police station, 32-year-old Ranjit Yadav took his own life, distressed by his wife's illicit relationship with a police officer and the neglect of his complaints. Ranjit scribbled a suicide note on the wall of his shop (kiosk) that read: 'Officer Shesh Kumar is responsible for my death.'
Initially, Ranjit Yadav supported his family with a modest tin-shed shop and earned a living through dairy farming. Last August, his buffalo was stolen, for which he lodged a complaint at the Hariharpur police station. It is alleged that when officer Shesh Kumar came to his home under the pretext of investigation, he gradually established an illicit relationship with Ranjit's wife, Geeta Devi. On discovering this, Ranjit protested and reported it to the police, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
Family members reveal that Ranjit urged his wife to end the inappropriate relationship and cried for justice at both the police station and outpost, but was shunned everywhere. When no justice was forthcoming, Ranjit hanged himself from a tree outside his shop, leaving a suicide note blaming the officer for his death.

Upon learning of the incident, police arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. The deceased’s wife admitted that the contents of the note were indeed the reason for her husband’s death. Ranjit's brother, Deepu Yadav, recounted how Ranjit had caught the officer talking to his wife on the phone multiple times and had threatened suicide on several occasions.
Police Response to the Case
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nripendra stated that the case is being thoroughly investigated, and stringent action will be taken if the accused officer is found guilty. However, thus far, no explicit punitive measures have been taken against the officer. Based on the complaint by the deceased’s father, a case has been registered against the accused officer and he has been detained for questioning, during which he confessed to the illicit relationship with the victim’s wife.
