Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi held a rally in Srinagar. During the rally, he took sharp jabs at PM Modi and the BJP, accusing them of stripping the people of Jammu & Kashmir of their democratic rights by turning the region into a Union Territory. Rahul Gandhi said, 'You may recall that before the Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi was famously known for his '56-inch chest'. But have you seen him these days? The mood has changed. The INDIA bloc and Congress Party have altered the psychology of Narendra Modi.'
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that PM Modi delivers lengthy speeches and prefers to talk about his own thoughts instead of discussing meaningful issues. He called for action on crucial matters like eradicating unemployment, reducing inflation, providing a vision for the youth, and granting statehood to Jammu & Kashmir. 'But PM Modi cannot speak on these matters,' said Gandhi. 'He spends 24 hours talking about himself, but nowadays, nobody wants to listen to his thoughts.'
Furthermore, he claimed that unemployment is on the rise across the country because educated people are missing job opportunities. 'This situation is a result of Narendra Modi's policies,' he argued. 'I will raise these issues in the Parliament. Just give me the mandate, and I will stand up for them.'
During the rally, Rahul Gandhi reiterated their election manifesto that promised to offer one lakh government jobs. The INDIA bloc government will provide an unemployment allowance of ₹3500 per month. Women will receive ₹3000 every month and those involved in self-help groups will get loans up to ₹5 lakh. Additionally, mobile clinics will be established in every Tehsil and super specialty hospitals in every district.
He compared their proposal to the health insurance scheme rolled out during the Gehlot government in Rajasthan, and assured that a similar health insurance plan worth ₹25 lakh will be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir. 'The most significant issue here is statehood. We guarantee that the people of Jammu & Kashmir will be granted statehood,' he asserted.
