U.S. President Donald Trump has hiked the annual H-1B visa fee to $100,000, equivalent to 8.8 million INR. In response, Congress has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rahul Gandhi stated, 'I repeat, India's PM is weak.' The party remarked that Trump's hike in H-1B visa fees impacts India deeply. Previously, the fee was set at 600,000 INR, now soaring to 8.8 million INR.

Congress expressed through social media on X that Trump's decision drastically affects India, limiting job opportunities for Indians in America and significantly reducing remittances. Indian IT professionals' jobs are under threat, a danger magnified by the nation's large IT companies already undergoing layoffs.

Gaurav Gogoi, Congress's deputy leader in Lok Sabha, posted on X that the recent H-1B visa decision has affected the prospects of India's brightest, thanks to the U.S. government. Gogoi alleged that PM Modi's strategic silence, while prioritizing noise over action, has become a burden on India's national interests and its citizens.

Congress leader Pawan Khera stated on X that Rahul Gandhi was vindicated after eight years. Referencing 2017 posts linked with media reports, it was pointed out that the H-1B visa topic never surfaced during discussions between President Trump and PM Modi back then. Khera emphasized how Rahul Gandhi spotlighted this issue since 2017, indicating unchanged circumstances. He criticized PM Modi, asserting India remains under weak leadership.

President Trump announced the misuse of the H-1B visa program and labeled it a threat to national security. An order was signed to restrict foreign workers from entering the U.S. under such visas, incurring a significant fee of $100,000 annually for companies. This affects workers from India as well.
